Meeting Tess Munster! Makeup & Outfit for the Tess Munster M&G at Re/Dress.

Posted 5 years ago - by: Kate Faulhaber

Today I got the opportunity to meet an inspiration of mine, Tess Munster. She’s a plus-sized model, makeup artist, and the founder of Eff Your Beauty Standards which promotes body acceptance for plus sized women. I wanted to wear makeup and an outfit that was girly, a bit edgy and showcased who I am. For makeup, I went with a warm toned neutral smokey eye to flatter my blue eyes and I added a subtle pop of a warm purple on the lower lash line. And of course…a bold lip. I wanted to use one of my new lip products from Sephora so I tried out an OCC Lip Tar! I hope you enjoy the makeup and outfit! I’ll include a few pictures from the meet & greet at the bottom and share a quick summary of my experience meeting Tess and other girls at the event! :)

Shirt: Torrid

Skinny Jeans- Old Navy, Rockstar brand

Shoes- Cold Water Creek, Nichole Simpson brand

Necklace- gift from my stepfather

Eyes: I began with priming my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion. I applied tape to help sharpen my eye look. Then, I took a small pencil brush and applied MAC Phloof to the inner corner. Then, with a flat eye shadow brush, I patted on MAC Brulé onto my lid. For the transition shade, I always use Urban Decay Naked from the first Naked palette on a fluffy brush. To define the crease, I applied MAC Cork with a smaller denser fluffy brush. For a subtle pop of plum on the lower lash line and slightly in the outer v of the eye, I took MAC Fig 1 on a small brush and applied it to my lower lash liner and on a smudge brush into the outer v to connect the two. Blend the purple into the brown crease shades. For the winged liner, I used Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. I removed the tape, then applied NYX Retractable eye liner in Black to my upper and lower waterline. For mascara on the top lashes, I used a combination of Buxom mascara and Clinique Lash Doubling and for the bottom lashes I applied Benefit They’re Real.

Face: As always…on a beauty sponge…Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 liquid foundation in Classic Ivory. For concealer on blemishes and my dark circles, I used Revlon Photo Ready concealer in Light. For a little more matte coverage and to ensure my foundation lasts all night I set my foundation with NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation in Nude. For blush, I used Avon Smooth Minerals blush in Rose Radience on the back portion of the apples of my cheeks.

Lips: OCC Lip Tar Primer and OCC Lip Tar in Pretty Boy

A store in Lakewood, Ohio called Re/Dress (a plus sized vintage clothing store) hosted this meet and greet and my mother and I had V.I.P tickets! This meant we could able to be a part of a Q&A with Tess and meet her before anyone else and receive a goodie bag and all that jazz. She was so sweet and funny and really showed passion about body acceptance and Eff Your Beauty Standards. Tess is a wonderful role model for girls who struggle daily with body acceptance. It’s something I’ve dealt with since I was young. I highly recommend learning more about this amazing woman! Maybe a Tess Munster makeup tutorial soon? Here are a couple pictures from the event!

Tess, you’re an inspiration not only to me, but to all girls who struggle with the way their body looks. You’re beautiful and truly a sweet little diva! It was a dream to speak to you about MAC makeup for a couple minutes or so haha. Love you!
