Posted 5 years ago - by: Kate Faulhaber

Hi everyone! I know I haven’t been posting much and I’m sorry to those of you who enjoy reading the blog. I really need to kick myself in the ass to post more often throughout each week. But here’s today’s post!

For an early birthday present, I recieved a few MAC products. 2 of the 3 are are part of limited edition collections that we’re recently released: MAC “The Simpsons” and the Viva Glam Rihanna. For this post, I’m reviewing a MAC Simpsons eye shadow quad called Marge’s Extra Ingredients and the Viva Glam Rihanna 2 lipstick. Please read on and enjoy :-)

Marge’s Extra Ingredients Eye Shadow Quad

-Harpooned Heart- Description: a light baby pink

Finish: Lustre

My Experience w/ Product: This shadow has an extremely shimmery and sparkly finish, but I didn’t have any fallout when applying it. The color payoff is decent, it’s opaque after 2-3 layers of shadow. Or a white sticky eye shadow base would help the color pop more.

-Sexy PB&J- Description: a mid-tone bright violet

Finish: Veluxe Pearl

My Experience w/ Product: This is a cool toned shimmery purple. It has a good color payoff and is very smooth when applied.

-Beehive Blue- Description: a mid-tone bright blue

Finish: Veluxe Pearl

My Experience w/ Product: It’s a basic shimmery blue, not too light or too dark. Very good color payoff and applied smooth and easy.

-Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag-

Maccosmetics Description: a deep navy

Finish: Frost

My Experience w/ Product: I would definitely not call this a true navy. I’d say it’s a combination of a dark blue, dark purple, and black. Despite the odd color description, it’s a very pretty deep shade. Very good color payoff and applied well.

Final Verdict: I really like this quad! I like the color choices, I like that they’re pigmented and easy to work with, I love Marge’s diva glare imprinted into the shadows, and I adore the packaging of course!

Viva Glam Rihanna 2 Lipstick Description: Warm mauvey silver frost

Finish: Frost

My Experience w/ Product: I’m a little confused with this being called a mauve. On me I thought it kind of looked like a shimmer graphite shade. This color was easy to apply. It was smooth and wasn’t drying but wasn’t moisturizing either. This is the first frost lipstick from MAC that I’ve ever bought, and was surprised that the color wasn’t super opaque after one application. But in two layers it was opaque so I wasn’t upset.

Final Verdict: The color is really unique and frankly it’s a little odd…but I LOVE IT! It had so much against it…I generally don’t like frosty lipsticks or colors like this. But it’s honestly awesome. It’s so unique and truly an awesome color for fall. So if you like unique lip colors or are a bold gal…you’ll love this. Oh, the rubbery red packaging is super chic too…just saying.

Hope this was helpful or at least interesting. Please send requests or any questions or concerns.
