Fall Makeup Tutorial w/ 5 Fall Lip Trends!

Posted 5 years ago - by: Kate Faulhaber

Hey everyone! I’m so excited to bring this post to you. I love fall makeup trends. (I know…typical white girl… They’re classy, simple, and chic. Are you asking what in the hell is this chick talking about, exactly? I’ll fill you in. Fall makeup includes a lot of earthy tones, golds, and even burgundy for the eyes. The cheeks stick around the same type of earthy-toned colors: mauves, neutral pinks, and taupes. Here is MY favorite…bold lips! But not like my summer brights. Bold fall lips would be anything from deep fuchsias to berries to dark wines to blackened purple shades. And of course…the brown nudes are forever trending for fall. I generally liked to wear heavy eye makeup (no…really? You Kate? Noooooooooo!) but I think for fall an easy and minimal gold toned eye makeup is beautiful to pair with a bold berry toned or brown toned lip. I hope you enjoy this and get into the spirit of autumn with this look!

Eyes: I actually did NOT start with my Wet n Wild Take On The Day eye primer…I used a cream shadow! It’s the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold and I applied it with my finger all over the lid. This formula is meant to last all day and it truly does. (I highly recommend these…especially the gold and neutral pink! Okay back to the original programming.) For the next step I recommend topping off the gold cream shadow with a gold powder shadow on a flat eye shadow brush just to ensure that it’ll last all day. I used Urban Decay Half Baked but I also recommend Urban Decay Baked or the gold from the L’Oreal HIP Duo in Guilded. Now, take a medium warm brown on a fluffy eye shadow brush and brush this through your crease. On the very outer corner, I applied a bit of Urban Decay Buck. For an inner corner highlight, I applied bareminerals loose shadow in Sweet. I blended South by Kat Von D under my brow and finished my shadows there! Then, I took my NYX Retractable eye liner in Brown and applied that to my top and bottom waterlines to make this look a little more sultry. If you have smaller eyes or you’re sensitive to products on the waterline, you can definitely skip this step. Lastly, I added my favorite Clinique Lash Doubling mascara to my top and bottom lashes and you’re done!

Face: First, I applied a little bit of a moisturizing sunscreen to add moisture back into my skin. Then, I applied my favorite foundation: Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 liquid foundation in Classic Ivory. I topped it with the tiniest bit of NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation in Nude to make sure my foundation stays in place. I applied a little bit of NYC Smooth Skin bronzing powder in Sunny for a bit of warmth to my skin. For blush, I applied a shimmery blush by Avon called Rose Radiance on the back of the apples of my cheeks.

Lips: As I tend to do…I’m giving you multiple lip options. There are 5 lip colors for you to choose.

1. The Brown Toned Nude

-I applied NYX Retractable lip liner in Nude then added a light amount of Lime Crime Coquette lipstick on top.

2. The Deep Fuchsia

- This is for the ladies and gents who want more than a nude lip but are a little gun shy to go for a deeper fall color. I applied the Maybelline Super Stay 10 Hour Stain Gloss in Fresh Fuchsia.

3. The Berry/Wine (what I’m wearing in pictures above)

- I started with my Indian Pink lip liner then applied the iconic MAC Satin lipstick in Rebel. This color is bold, but flattering for any skin tone from super fair to super dark. This lipstick also leaves a gorgeous fuchsia stain.

4. The Bright Purple

-I applied MAC Matte lipstick in Heroine all over my lips. That’s it :)

5. The Blackened Purple

-This is MY personal favorite of the bunch. I feel very daring wearing this lip combo. I lined my lips with a black eye liner from NYC just around the outer part of my lips to create a crisp shape. Then…the coolest fall lip color…MAC Satin lipstick in Cyber.
