5 Multiuse Makeup Products!

Posted 5 years ago - by: Kate Faulhaber

What do I always say? Makeup has NO rules. This doesn’t just apply to the colors and techniques you play with, but how you use your products! Check out these 5 products that don’t need to follow the beauty rule book.

1. Lipstick as a cream blush- This is a great way to help your skin look bright and youthful. This is also a good trick if you have trouble figuring out how to pair a blush with a lipstick…it’s the same color so it HAS to coordinate. I recommend using lipsticks that have matte or satin finishes on the skin or anything that’s not overly glossy or shimmery. When applying lipstick to your cheeks, dab your lipstick of choice and apply a few medium sized dots on the back of the apples of your cheeks. Then, take a CLEAN finger and dab and blend the color out. In the photo below, I used MAC Viva Glam Nicki. This was a limited edition lipstick, so a perfect dupe for this color is Wet N Wild Mega Last Lipstick in Pinkerbelle.

2. Eye shadow as a lip, brow, and cheek color- Eye shadows are extremely versatile in the makeup world. You can use brown shadows close to your natural brow color as a brow powder or even use a shadow to top off a lip color. Here are a couple mini tutorials.

-Dying to try out a weird lip color that you don’t own? Put on a thick layer of your favorite lip balm or a normal amount of clear lip gloss. Take the eye shadow you want to try on your lips and pat it on your lips and blend just a bit if necessary. The eye shadow I have used for this is Urban from the Urban Decay Electric Palette.

-For your brows, just take an angled brush and use whatever eye shadow you want to color away! I actually use a brown eye shadow from a random L’Oreal eye shadow quad.

Bottom left and right shades are mostly what I use.

-Now you have many options for your cheeks. A darker brown eye shadow can make a great contour powder. For this trick, I used Buck from the Urban Decay Naked Palette. And a light shimmery cream shadow can be used for a cheek highlight. For this, I used Sellout from the Urban Decay Fun Palette.

3. Eye liner as a lip liner- This is a pretty obvious one, at least for me. I have weird colored lipsticks like Blue and Green and it’s hard to find coordinating lip pencils. So take an eyeliner and trace over your lips for your odd lippie to last longer. Below I have used NYX Slide On eye liner in Esmeralda for my NYX Macaron Lippie in Pistachio.

4. Eye shadow primer as a eye brow primer- I use this trick DAILY. It helps the shadow I use to fill in my brows last WAY longer, the color appears brighter, and it helps tame my crazed brow hairs. The eye primer I use is Wet N Wild Take On The Day eye shadow primer.

5. Liquid Eye Liner as Mascara- Yes. It’s a thing. A black liquid eye liner is perfect for those pesky lashes in the inner and outer corners that your mascara brush can’t reach. Or what I like to do is use a colored liquid liner for my lower lashes for a unique pop of color. In the photo below, I used my NYX Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Purple on my lower lashes.
